1963 - Parish Volunteer

When the Klug family moved to Brea in 1963, they joined Saint Angela Merici Parish. Frances and Robert wanted to ensure that their three children would be able to attend the newly built parish school, and they became actively involved at Saint Angela’s. Frances volunteered to head the Ways and Means Committee. In August of 1964, she organized a variety show to welcome the Poor Clare Sisters who had come from Ireland to teach at the new school.

Frances was well-suited to serve as the chair of the Ways and Means Committee. It was second nature for her to plan and organize fundraising events, and she successfully enlisted the support and participation of many other parishioners. The pastor, Father McCarthy, was pleased with her take-charge approach. Under her leadership over several years, the Ways and Means Committee raised many thousands of dollars to benefit the parish.
